When in rome, do as the romans

Where do I begin! Italy was nothing but fabulous. We met matthew at the airport in spain and he joined us on our continuing adventures to Italy. We spent 3 days in Rome and 3 days in Florence and a trip to the Vatican. My favorite parts of Italy-which seem to many to pick a few-were

1. Seeing the Colosseum the first thing off of our first metro stop. It it magnificent and huge. I could hardly believe I was standing in front of it. Books and pictures don't even do it justice. We kept wishing there was a way to capture the full scene with the sounds, smells, and noises into our pictures but there was no way hold onto it all.

2. The Trevi Fountain was my favorite site in Rome. It was just as I imagined. We sat for about one hour there watching everyone come to make a wish and you better believe I made a really good wish and I have no doubt that it will now come true (I bet you could imagine what my wish was)! I could just feel the excitement of Rome sitting there on the fountain steps. And I loved the fact that the people there really do talk of finding love and adventure when you come to Rome, just like I had seen in all my cheesy girl movies. You can believe I soaked it all up and believed every word.

3. Florence in itself was my favorite city we saw our whole trip. I loved the whole ambiance of the place. From the narrow cobblestone streets, and candle-lit sidewalk cafes with accordion players serenading us at dinner, to the incredible fact that these amazing buildings like the Duomo are just another building on these packed streets. There was no golden gate around it to show off it's magnificence, it was just part of the everyday streets. Of course I can't forget my other favorite-the Gelato! It was also so fun to shop in the markets in Florence. I loved it all.

The Latest...

Recently, I packed up my Western self and moved out East to a little place called Virginia. My parents relocated out here about 2 years ago, so it was time I check out VA for myself. It is in the DC metro area, so we spend lots of fun time in the city or in the country. I am still working as a pediatric nurse and looking to maybe move towards the non-profit or political side of health care. I gained a new family member in the form of a Chinese exchange student named Donna, and I love being with my parents again. Life is good.
