This past weekend my mom and dad flew the girls out to D.C. to attend the First Ladies' Luncheon. The luncheon is for the wives and daughters of former and present congressman to eat with the First Lady. Ever since my dad was in congress, me and my sister never had the chance to go because we were always in school. But this year was our year. The luncheon was at the Hilton hotel in D.C. and I have never seen such a herd of women in my life. Inside the tables were decorated so lovely and the food was
interesting to say the least (these fancy lunches always include an array of foods that looks to nice to eat). Then as we feasted, Laura Bush spoke and we enjoyed the company of other congressional families, some of which I remember spending time with when our dad's had to go to meetings. Most of all, it was fun getting dressed up and going out with just Mom, Lara and Sarah. And this event has been long-since awaited for.

Sarah and I were star-struck just looking at the program which included a picture of Mrs. Bush.

After the lunch, we went to go visit Jake at the Capitol. It was so fun to be back because I haven't been there since my dad was in Congress. I just remember running to his office and having the interns entertain us with all their tricks while we waited for my dad to return from voting on the floor. I remember watching my dad vote on the floor and how important it felt to be in that room with so many men in suits. What a beautiful building it surely is and I feel such a sense of patriotism just being there. Everytime I am there, it makes me remember how proud that I am of my dad.

Afterwards we went for a walk on the Mall and it was the most beautiful day. We sat on the lawn in front of the Capitol and basked in the sun.

It was so good to see signs of wildlife...in
utah there is not a sign of a flower in sight. And you know me, I do love my flowers.

On Friday night I finally got to see Jake perform his weekly performance at the sandwich shop. I loved hearing him sing and strum the 6-string. It was so fun and he is oh so good.

And you will never believe what happened on my way home! I had this terribly long 4 hour lay-over in Chicago, so I called
Krissi and then she and
Dallen picked me up. They took me on this fabulous tour of the city and then we even went to the zoo and grabbed some lunch. How I have missed
Krissi and it was so fun to see Chicago. I have never been there before.
