Spanish "Fark" Fair

Okay, this had to be one of my favorite days of the whole summer.  We decided to go to the Spanish Fork Fair.  When we got there, somehow we started talking in these country western accents, and usually something like that wouldn't last long, but not with this crowd.  We talked in them the entire night.  I never laughed so hard.  This is a picture of the our group in front of "The Zipper".  Chris stated so well in his lovely hick accent "A zipper only goes two ways, up and down."  And that it did Chris.  It was crazy, but only a taste of how crazy the rest of our night was going to be.
Throughout the night we had all given each other nicknames.  Left to right: Chris Ricks-Honey Bucket (after the port-a-potty, sorry Chris), Taryn- T Rod, Katie- Corndog (because that week that's all I ever ate when we were together, the picture proves it), and Chris K- Kapeip.  The 4 of us stuck together the whole night.  We had to eat funnel cakes, coke and corndogs because it isn't a fair without them.  I do love the darn things.
Taryn, Courtney and I after riding the Gravitron~ oh was that crazy!  Taryn and I had a lot of quality time together this summer since Syrell left to go explore Honduras.  It was fun to have time with her and it reminded me just how much I have loved my times with her in the past.  This year together was way better than all our EFY's together!  I know, hard to imagine...
So this was the clincher of the night.  Honey Bucket and I got on the Ferris Wheel (the first time in my life) and by the time we got up to the top, fireworks were going off.  It was so cool and was like a scene from a movie.  We couldn't have planned it better if we tried.  I know he looks a little hardcore in this picture, but he is quite a romantic.  When we got to the top, he pulled out yesterday's Wrigleys gum wrapper and wrapped it around my ring finger and said in his country-western accent, "I know it aint much, but will you be my bride?"  I laughed so hard and then he went on to say, "My intentions are as clean as my record after 4 years in prison."  Now how 'bout that!  I've never had an offer like that.  So I said, "This is about as romantic as the time Daddy got off parol and snuck into Mama's room late at night.  Of course I'll be your bride!"  We just laughed so hard and had the best time.  I must say he has got to be one of the funniest kids I know.  Sadly, we are not really engaged, but with a romantic moment such as that, it can't be too far away!
Kapeip saw those cheesy, I mean lovely, crowns that the people sell at the fair to make money, and decided T-Rod and I needed to have one.  So he bought each of us one to match our outfits and to top off the whole night.  It was so much fun.

That looks like so much fun! Remember the AZ state fair with the snap bracelets and the hispavaho tacos?

Hey there Corndog, this is Honey Bucket. I love your story about the fair. I completely forgot about some of the priceless one-liners from that night. I hope you are well in Arizona. Things here in Provo are swell as ever. I am going to Jerusalem for winter semester, cool huh? Keep in touch!

The Latest...

Recently, I packed up my Western self and moved out East to a little place called Virginia. My parents relocated out here about 2 years ago, so it was time I check out VA for myself. It is in the DC metro area, so we spend lots of fun time in the city or in the country. I am still working as a pediatric nurse and looking to maybe move towards the non-profit or political side of health care. I gained a new family member in the form of a Chinese exchange student named Donna, and I love being with my parents again. Life is good.
